AMBER ALE – “Rooinek” – (IBU’s 26. EBC 32, abv 5%)
This copper-red ale is mostly about MALT; in addition to our homegrown Overberg barley, we have added specially malted grains from Belgium and Germany. The beer has a rich biscuit and caramel flavor with a lasting sweet aftertaste. Hops are added in to create subtle balancing bitterness. This beer is filtered to give excellent clarity and a longer shelf life, especially if refrigerated, lasting about 6 months from brewing date (visible on bottleneck label).
What I say...
Red-amber colour with an off white head and a beautiful clarity. Some tropical fruit aromas, passion fruit from the Southern Passion late hop addition. Lots of caramel, honey aromas and a very strong malt forward flavour. Its a medium-full bodied beer with great mouth-feel. This is my favourite beer in The Old Potters range and if you want to brew this yourself, check out our video here.
